A Phase II Study for Using Radiosurgery on Limited Metastases of Breast Cancer

Study Summary Eligibility Criteria
This is a study for breast cancer patients with metastatic lesions including liver, lung and bone. These lesions will be treated with conformal radiosurgery using the NovalisŪ Shaped Beam SurgeryTM accelerator. Concurrent chemotherapy is encouraged but not required. Each participant must satisfy all the following:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must not be confined to bed over 50% of the day
  • Must not have more than 5 metastatic lesions involving one or more different organs (i.e. liver, lung or bone)
  • The size of the lesions does not always matter
  • Lesions previously treated with radiation are not eligible unless the prescribed dose can be safely delivered
  • Previous chemotherapy is allowed
  • Chemotherapy during Novalis therapy is allowed and recommended. The chemo protocol type and schedule is at the discretion of the medical oncologist
  • Informed consent must be obtained
  • Pregnancy test must be negative for women of child bearing potential
