Clinical Specialty
Dr. Katz is responsible for radiation therapy of gastrointestinal malignancies,
breast cancer, and many non-malignant conditions such as heterotopic bone and keloids.
Dr. Katz earned his MD from the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University in Israel and did a fellowship in the
Department of Radiation Oncology at the
University of Rochester Medical Center from 1991-1992.
After completing the fellowship, he returned to Israel and was an attending radiation oncologist at the Rabin Medical Center,
Petach Tikva. Dr. Katz returned to
the University of Rochester in 2001. He received his Masters of Public Health (MPH) in 2004 though the Radiology Cancer Research Training Curriculum,
with a thesis titled Correlation of Interleukin- 6 and Interferon Gamma with Fatigue in Breast Cancer Patients
Treated with Chemotherapy.
Dr. Katz specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies and breast cancer. . His clinical work and
research has made him an expert on stereotactic body radiation therapy for primary and metastatic liver tumors.
He has been involved in clinical trial development within the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center and
through the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group.

Research Overview
Dr. Katz actively participates in several James P. Wilmot Cancer Center protocols
investigating the use of stereotactic body radiation therapy.
He was a principal investigator on the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group 0438 protocol,
a multi-institutional study to
evaluate the use of stereotactic body radiation therapy in patients with metastatic liver cancer.
