Biographical Sketch

Dr. Katz received a B.S. in Biology from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1981. He then studied medicine in Israel at the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. After graduating in 1985 he did a rotating internship at the Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in Zerifin, Israel. This was followed by a residency in Oncology at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. In 1991, he completed a Fellowship in Radiation Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He returned to Israel and worked as a Senior Radiation Oncologist at the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva. Dr. Katz has been an attending in the Department of Radiation Oncology since August 2001. He was recently awarded an M.P.H. degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Research Overview

Dr. Katz actively participates in several University of Rochester Cancer Center protocols and is the principal investigator on RTOG 0245, a multi-institutional study to evaluate the use of stereotactic radiotherapy in patients with primary or metastatic liver cancer. He is also principal investigator on the NIH funded Radiology Cancer Research Training Curriculum grant.
