		Dr. Chen has a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from the University of Washington and her radiation oncology training was at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She is nationally recognized for her excellence in pulmonary oncology. She is the Vice-Chair for Translational Research for the Lung Committee of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and will be the PI on a lung cancer protocol opening in SWOG (Southwest Oncology Group)based on her laboratory work. She has an active laboratory and several basic and clinical research grants from the pharmaceutical industry. Her work includes the discovery of cytokine profiles in the plasma that predict for radiation pneumonitis.
