Jacqueline Williams, Ph.D. (Leader, Training and Education Core), Associate Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Williams trained in Radiation Biology at the University of London (St. Bartholomew's Medical College), a department whose alumni included Drs. John Coggle, Barrie Lambert, Patricia Lindop, and the Nobel Prize winner, Dr. Joseph Rotblat. She is an active educator in the Radiation Biology teaching course for
Radiation Oncology residents in the University of Rochester Medical School. She is also a frequent lecturer to residents in other upstate institutions, including Roswell Park Cancer Center, Buffalo, NY. Dr. Williams' interest in education also has led to her involvement as an Associate Editor for RABEX (Radiobiology Practice Examinations), recently renamed the ASTRO Radiation/Cancer Biology Practice Examination and Study Guide. Dr. Williams
has worked in radiobiologically-oriented research since the early 1980's, studies that began at Bart's investigating the development of skin carcinogenesis following localized beta-particle exposure. In her time at the University of Rochester, her work has focused on other aspects of radiation-induced late effects, emphasizing vasculature and brain, and, in
particular, lung effects. Finally, Dr. Williams is the Program Director of Radiation Medicine in the University of Rochester's Center for Disaster Medicine and Emergency Preparedness.
